About Shima Studio
Shima Studio is the Melbourne studio of an artist who builds each work by hand, layer by layer: sculpted texture, raised florals and leaves, hand-shaped stones, and gold or silver leaf that catches the light.
Most pieces are made to order. Every design in the gallery can be created again in the size and colours that suit a particular room, and delivery is arranged with Shima for your address.
How the work is made
Texture is built up by hand, layer by layer. Leaves, petals and stones are shaped one at a time and placed on the canvas, so each raised element casts its own shadow as the light moves.
Gold or silver leaf is laid by hand over chosen areas, and some pieces are finished with a high-gloss resin coat.
One work, Where Nature Meets Gold, is made from more than 800 individually shaped pieces finished in gold leaf.
